Montessori Children’s House of North Barrington Celebrates Earth Day.

Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 4:00pm-6:00pm Montessori Children’s House of North Barrington will celebrate Earth Day. Citizens for Conservation will conduct hands-on learning activities during the celebration and the children will be participating in activities that promote awareness of their natural environment.

As part of the Earth Day celebration, MCHNB is working with New Life Electronics Recycling offering a drop off day for school families and the community to do their part in keeping electronic items out of landfills and recycle responsibly.

The outdoor environment plays a major role in the Montessori classroom. “We are pleased to have such a wonderful outdoor classroom environment for our children where they can learn and appreciate nature”, says Anna Perry, Head of School.

MCHNB was built in 1970 with a unique design to emphasize our appreciation of the natural world. Montessori Children’s House of North Barrington (MCHNB) is nestled among the rolling hills of the northwest suburbs, where children enjoy a park-like 3-acre campus with educational programs serving children from birth through age six.

MCHNB is a lab school of the Seton Montessori Institute, one of the largest Montessori teacher education programs in North America. As a result, the children are exposed to the most current and progressive teaching methods in an authentic Montessori classroom.

Anna Perry, the Head of the School, says: “For more than forty years, our school has chosen to focus on this most important time in every child’s life – from before birth to age six – because it is the foundation from which the rest of their life experiences will grow.”
