Summer Camp 2013 Has Started!
We are off and running for another great summer at Montessori Children’s House! The children are quickly getting used to the routines of camp and actively enjoying the fun of making new friends, working in the classrooms and outdoor and visiting the swimming pool at the Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center. Smiles abound at Summer Camp 2013!
Every day children are enjoying different activities with water. There cannot be more fun and joy than playing with the water, in the water or around the water during the summer hot days.
Classic Montessori activities are also in the curriculum.
And not only in the classroom. Summer is a great time to have the prepared Montessori environment even outside.
The older campers have been learning about plants with Miss Rukmal this past week. In this picture they are focused on preparing a good sample of a real flower with all it’s parts labeled. This activity nurtures their learning the names of the parts of the plant and flower while also supporting their reading and writing skills.
Fun with water every day!
All our campers are spending much of their time outside doing a host of different activities including: classic Montessori activities, music, movement, snack or game times. This is a wonderful setting to do any kind of learning and play – under the shade of great oaks that protect the children from direct sun and create a beautiful natural atmosphere. In the photo above you can see a Leader In Training (a young volunteer), who plays active games with children using a ball, inspiring great joy!
